Writing in Oriya will not be search friendly

That's a good idea, but ...
Do you know why it's made a rule to use english while posting here? it's because normally people will search in english terms for some information on Orissa and they should get it. Ya, we can write the samething in Oriya along with in English like you have already done above.

It seems you tried to write in Odia fonts. Unfortunately the posts do not allow html due to security reasons. hence the fonts will not show correct. Do you see correct Odia font in your above post? I can't see. Even I installed some odia fonts. Still no.

Use firefox/opera it's Unicode so does not require any fonts

As for the IE fans there is also a way to see unicode text.

Click Fonts on IE options genral tab

Select Oriya in the Language Script dorp down menu and Arial Unicode MS should show up with odiya fonts

If everything goes well you should be able to see the text below

ମଁୁ ଓଡିଆ ପଢି ପାରୁଛି

Let me know if that helped

Not getting that option in internet explorer. I chose "Oriya" but no fonts were shown in the box.

Thanks Toshali and Sukanya for this.

I have found a fix for the problem of displaying the Odia text written by Toshali above.
The issue is that Arial Unicode MS font is missing on Sukanya's computer. This font is not a single type of font. It has loads of different fonts and it can display almost any regional font. This comes with MS Office. Microsoft also gives it as a separate download. If you have MS Office but still can't see this font in your Windows/fonts folder, simply download the font.

I will very soon upload the font to a suitable place so that download will be easy.

Just download the font. Copy it into your Windows/fonts folder, and that's it. You can now see the Odia text written here and everywhere else.

Now a question for Toshali: We can see your Odia writings. How do we type the text in Odia now?

It does not have to be Arial Unicode MS, any open type Unicode Oriya font will do

here are some

Code: Select all

http://ildc.gov.in/Oriya/download/C-DAC/GIST-OT-FONTS-INSTALLER.zip
extract it you need not even install it just install this font GIST-OROTMukta and it should show up under Oriya menu in Unicode options
