The famous Cuttack baliyatra 2011, orissa has started from 10th November. It has come with a great trade fair, where you can find different variety of products from all over the Country. The Cultural Programs will be organized daily by the (Baliyatra cuttack utsav). The Cuttack Municipal Corporation is managing this event with the help of District Administrative Office, Police department and a number of NGO’s.

Baliyatra is observed to remember the past prosperousness of Odisha. In the past, Sadhabas (Odiya merchants) were going in voyage to distant islands of indonesia(Bali,Java, Sumatra, Borneo ) and Sri Lanka for trading purpose. The voyage to Bali provides the name Bali Yatra. They were using the Boitas(boats) for this purpose. The wives of the traders worship the boats for their safe voyage and good profit in business. This worship is termed as ‘Bandana’.
Now, on the occasion of kartika purnima, Boita bandana utsav is celebrated in different places of Odisha.
