Makara sankranti is a function of happiness and joy. This time the farmers become able to get the crop of year. They worship lord sun on this day with rice mixed with cheese and raw sugar. This festival is very much popular among the tribals of Mayurbhanj district. They wear new clothes and engage the total day in singing, dancing and in merry making. Thus the total function gets celebrated with much fun and joy.
